Retro Base Jumping off El Capitan in 1980s
In this retro base jumping video, a group of base jumpers jump off one of the most famous rock formations, the 3000 foot, 910m high El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. El Capitan is also known as one of best rock climbing challenges. It is located in Nevada.
The video shows the group of base jumpers jumping off the rock formation. They take turns running down the top of the cliff as fast as the can and just diving head first off the ledge. It definitively takes balls of steal to be a BASE jumper back in the 80s. The BASE jumpers at first appear to be just falling into the forest, without any parachutes opening. In the second half of the extreme base jumping video, we see another view where the base jumpers are gliding to safety, with their parachutes open.
BASE jumping used to be legal in Yosemite National Park in the 1980s, simply requiring a permit. This however has ended and BASE jumping off the vertical rock formation that is “El Capitan” is now illegal. There still remains many people base jumping in Yosemite National Park in Nevada.

Base Jumping of the Burj Dubai. World Record!
A video of BASE jumping off the world’s tallest building, the Burj Dubai, also known as the Burj Khalifa. It stands at 828m high, that’s 2717 feet. The previous holder of the record was the CN at 553.3m and the Taipai 101 at 509.2m.
This was the first attempt ever on the world’s new talles skyscraper, on May 2008. They are so early, that the building is still under constructions, with the windows on the Burj Khalifa’s highest floors are still being installed. The two base jumpers, Robin Schmidt, and Jan Bednarz, climb up stairs the whole way up, over 160 floors. They then jump out from the windows of the Burj Dubai after enjoying the amazing view.
The two base jumpers are using helmet cams, allowing us to see this amazing, world record breaking, historic moment in BASE jumping.
There is a tense moment in this base jumping video as one of the base jumpers wearing a helmet cam lands in the construction area. He is spotted by a security guard and is being chased. Watch the video to find out if he escapes!
